In a significant development for the bustling Kejetia City Market in Kumasi, Mr. Johnson Ankrah has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Kejetia Traders Union and as a member of the Kumasi City Market Board.
The appointment follows the unfortunate passing of the late Chairman, Mr. Kwabena Obeng, and comes amidst a call for unity and effective representation within the market community.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Johnson Ankrah expressed gratitude for his appointment, emphasizing that it reflects not only his capabilities but also his extensive experience.
“My primary goal is to foster unity among the traders.
“There are existing divisions within the market, and it’s important that I address that challenge first before anything.
“I’ll be advocating for the welfare of all traders operating within Kejetia, Racecourse and all markets within my province,” he said.
Importantly, Mr. Ankrah pledged to prioritize the interests of the traders above any personal agenda.
“As a member of the board, I’m responsible for overseeing market affairs, and I’m assuring the traders that my advocacy efforts would be solely focused on serving their needs and advancing their collective interests.
“My message to the traders are clear: unity and collaboration are essential for achieving meaningful progress and securing a brighter future for all,” he added.
The endorsement of Mr. Ankrah’s appointment by Nana Akwasi Franco, the National President of the Ghana Traditional Caterers Association, further underscores the significance of this transition.
Nana Franco emphasized the importance of commitment and respect in Mr. Ankrah’s role, urging him to prioritize the welfare of the traders above all else.
With the assurance of support from influential figures like Nana Franco, Mr. Ankrah enters his new position with a strong foundation of endorsement and encouragement.
