A/R: 17th HASAAG Annual General Congress 2023 held.

The 17th Health Accounting Staff Association of Ghana (HASAAG) Annual General Congress concluded successfully in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, with a compelling focus on “Enhancing resource mobilization and financial accountability in the health sector amidst current economic challenges.”

The congress served as a platform for accountability, reflection, and the election of new executives to guide the association.

Addressing the attendees, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, the Ashanti Regional Director of Health, emphasized the impact of inadequate funds on health delivery.

He set the stage for discussions that revolved around the economic challenges affecting the health sector and the necessity for collaborative efforts to overcome them.

National President Dennis Emmanuel Kofi Amoah highlighted the association’s achievements under his leadership and stressed the urgency of mobilizing resources while maintaining accountability.

In the face of economic challenges affecting all sectors, the 5th President of the association underscored the vital role the health sector plays in society, emphasizing the need for sustainability and effectiveness during difficult economic times.

Mr. Amoah outlined key strategies, including monitoring and evaluation, capacity building for health providers, and collaboration with donors and sponsors.

“These measures are crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of the health sector amid economic constraints,” he said.

Dr. Anthony Adofo Ofosu, Deputy General of the Ghana Health Services, echoed the economic challenges due to government budget constraints and emphasized adherence to accounting principles.

He then offered advice, urging them to avoid self-deception and prioritize accountability in their endeavors, recognizing its critical role in navigating the existing financial constraints.

The congress also recognized outstanding members with awards, showcasing a commitment to rewarding excellence and encouraging high performance within the association.

Nana Boakye Yam II, Nkwantakesehene, chaired the event, providing leadership to ensure its smooth proceedings.
