VIDEO: Maurice Ampaw Insults Ashanti Chiefs; Calls Them Thieves And Girlfriend Snatchers

Private legal practitioner and prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, Maurice Ampaw has taken chiefs of the Ashanti Kingdom to the gutters for summoning Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Speaking on the ‘Mmra ne Abrabo’ show on Wontumi TV, the lawyer accused the chiefs of being thieves and girlfriend snatchers.

He claimed that the chiefs are not worth talking about Chairman Wontumi because some of them engage in multiple sale of land.

“The chiefs ‘dragging’ Chairman Wontumi, have you finished solving your problems? Some of you are thieves,” he claimed.

His remarks come after a summon was placed on the head of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, over some derogatory comments about the Asante kingdom.

The controversy arose during the vetting of NPP parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region when Chairman Wontumi allegedly claimed to have “built his own kingdom with military and police force in the Asante Kingdom.”

Following the remarks, the Kumasi Traditional Council has been desperately seeking his appearance before them to respond to some questions.

As at the time of filing this report, Chairman Wontumi had not made any appearance before the Council, however, he has been given up to January 29, 2024, to appear before the Council.
