In a devastating turn of events, two individuals have lost their lives and several others have been injured during a confrontation at the galamsey site in Subriso Nfante, located on the Ahafo Ano north of the Ashanti region.
Eyewitnesses report that a group of forestry guides, arriving in approximately eight (8) pickups, clashed with security personnel at the site. The dispute escalated to a tragic level, resulting in the fatal shooting of two security personnel, with another left in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses interviewed express what actually happened at the scene regarding the root cause of the misunderstanding. The Tepa divisional police command has initiated an investigation into the incident.
The deceased have been transported to the Tepa government hospital for autopsy, marking a somber development in this unfortunate incident. The community now awaits the outcome of the police investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and bring those responsible to justice.
