Residents of Asante Juaben in the Juaben Municipality are expressing their frustration with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Nana Ama Pomaa Boateng who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitization.

After 12 years in parliament, the residents feel that there has been a lack of significant progress in addressing crucial issues within the constituency.

One of the major concerns raised by the residents is the absence of essential amenities such as modern toilet facilities, access to portable water, well-maintained football pitches, and proper road infrastructure in nearest communities.

The plight of residents in areas like Abetinimu, Enkyiripuaso, Offoase, Krofrom, and Odoyɛfɛ is exacerbated by the poor state of roads, hindering the transportation of farm produce to Juaben.

The frustration deepens as promises made by the MP, including the construction of an astroturf at the Juaben Methodist School Park, remain unfulfilled.

The sod-cutting ceremony for the project raised hopes, but its subsequent abandonment has not only disappointed the community but also posed a safety risk for students, with snakes becoming a concern in the neglected area.

While Juaben proper enjoys proper road networks, electricity, and portable water, the residents attribute these amenities to the efforts of the Paramount Chief, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who also serves as the Chairman of the Council of State.

This raises questions about the incumbent MP’s effectiveness in championing development initiatives within the constituency.

In response to these grievances, residents are urging New Patriotic Party delegates to reconsider their support for the incumbent MP in the upcoming elections.

They advocate for a shift in leadership, expressing confidence in a Member of Parliament aspirant Mr. Francis Owusu-Akyaw.

Residents have identified Mr. Francis as a promising candidate with the potential to address their long-standing issues and bring about positive change.

The residents emphasize that their plea is not a mere request for change but a warning.

They caution that if their concerns are not heeded and the delegates fail to vote in favor of a candidate who aligns with their aspirations, they are prepared to exercise the option of “skirt and blouse” voting in the 2024 general elections.

The call for change in Asante Juaben reflects the desire of the community to see tangible improvements in their living conditions and essential infrastructure.

As the political landscape evolves, the decision made by the New Patriotic Party delegates will shape the destiny of the constituency, determining whether it continues on its current trajectory or embarks on a path of progress and development under new leadership.

The New Patriotic Party primaries is slated for January 27, 2024.
