Government Replies Captain Smart, Onua TV: ‘President Akufo-Addo Not Involved In Galamsey’

Government has issued a release distancing the President from “actively engaging in galamsey” as said by Captain Smart on his show Monday, October 17, 2022.

According to the release, government was going to refer broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart to the National Media Commission to adjudicate Captain Smart’s comments Monday.

Captain Smart had said until the president takes the bold step to clampdown on illegal mining by sanctioning persons in his party involved in the act, he is as good as an active illegal miner.

Meanwhile, the release signed by Deputy Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar Monday said “government is concerned about the spread of disinformation and misinformation, clothed under the pretext of journalistic discretion and free expression.”
