The National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) parliamentary candidate in the Bosomtwe Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Engineer Abdullah Hamidu together with Dream Renewable Energy have implemented green skills programme for the youths in the Bosomtwe District.
The programme was targeted at unemployment youth and is designed to train them as solar photovoltaic (PV) service technicians, capable of being employed at PV plants or to conduct rooftop solar PV installations.
Speaking to Onua News in an interview, The NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Engineer Abdullah said, the five-day programme was free and is important to build the required solar PV skills capacity that is critical to implement Ghana plans to ramp up the generation of electricity and enable businesses and households to invest in rooftop solar.
He says, Dream Renewable programme will be a catalyst towards alleviating the challenges of a staggering youth unemployment rate and persisting energy supply shortages.
“My aim is to reduce youth unemployment rate in the Bosomtwe Constituency and advocate for a just transition that is focused on social inclusion and the creation of decent work and quality jobs, He added.
Some beneficiaries showed their gratitude as they said that the five days programme has encompass knowledge, practical and work experience components.
They are optimistic that during the work experience component, they will gain the requisite exposure needed to qualify as solar PV technicians which will assist them in securing employment in the renewable energy sector.
