The tranquil ambiance of the Akyeamfuor Lorry Terminal in Kumasi has been shattered by a wave of terror inflicted by a group of notorious individuals identified as Macho-men.

These muscular assailants, known by the names Sarfo and Opoku, have instilled a climate of fear and uncertainty among the traders and workers who frequent the bustling marketplace.

In a recent incident that unfolded on a Wednesday morning at 7:00 am, chaos erupted as the Macho-men launched a brazen attack on the unsuspecting traders and workers within the vicinity of the terminal.

Eyewitness accounts paint a harrowing picture of violence and intimidation, with reports of physical assaults and the forceful closure of shops.

Speaking out against the relentless onslaught, workers and traders alike have voiced their plea for assistance, highlighting the recurring nature of the attacks.

The Macho-men, they lament, regularly descend upon the market, targeting individuals indiscriminately and disrupting the normal course of business operations.

One trader, echoed the sentiments of many who have fallen victim to the Macho-men’s brutality.

“We come to this place to work hard and make an honest living, but these criminals spare us no mercy.

“We’ve heeded our manager’s advice and refrained from taking matters into our own hands.

“This marks the fifth occasion they’ve descended upon us, causing distress and turmoil.

“We’ve reached our breaking point, and if they dare to return, I can assure you, there will be bloodshed,” one trader declared solemnly.

The sense of vulnerability permeating the market has reached alarming levels, prompting urgent calls for intervention from relevant authorities.

Collins Anokye, the General Manager of Akyeamfuor Group of Companies, has called upon the Ghana Police Service and the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo-Dampare, to take decisive action in quelling the rising tide of violence.

Mr. Anokye, bitterly emphasized the collective resolve of the terminal to resist and overcome the menace posed by the Macho-men.

“We stand united in solidarity, and those who dare to threaten our lives will not escape unpunished.

“Their menacing presence has plagued us ever since my uncle’s untimely passing.

“They boast about their influence over the police in Kumasi, and sadly, our repeated pleas for help to the authorities have fallen on deaf ears.

“I have no doubt in my mind that it is my late uncle’s widow who has enlisted their services to intimidate us and drive us away from our rightful property,” he affirmed.
