A/R: Health Directorate launches Intensive Covid vaccination exercise as media pledges to support it.

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has launched an Intensive covid vaccination exercise in 20 Districts within the Ashanti Region aimed at achieving a herd immunity.

The Directorate as part of the exercise engaged the Media to discuss possible ways it can educate the populace on the pandemic to overcome the vaccine hesitancy rate in the Ashanti Region.

Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang spoke on the multiple strategies needed to be designed by the media to encourage people to take the vaccines.

He updated that a total dose of 4,550,244 has been administered in the Ashanti Region and 51.6% of people have been fully vaccinated.

2,363,484 representing 73.4% have taken a single dose and a minimum of 70% of the population have been targeted to achieve herd immunity.

The Regional Director, disclosed that 20 Districts including, Asokwa, Afigya Kwabre North and South, Bekwai, Bosomtwi, Ejisu and others have been seriously factored to be strengthened in the covid 19 vaccination exercise.

He informed that the vaccination begins on Wednesday, February 8th to the 13th of February and called on hesitant to be involved to help save lives.

He commended the media for being participatory with support since the pandemic and further urged that there is still more to be done to overcome the vaccine hesitancy.

The media in the region also pledged to support the exercise to achieve the herd immunity by educating the populates on their various programs on both their TV/Radio programs.
