Ghana and Nigeria will renew their football rivalry once again this afternoon at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first leg of the 2023 African Nations Championship final qualifying round.

The two West African countries have met each other on four occasions this year at all levels, with two wins for Nigeria and the other two finishing in a draw.
However, the most talked about was when the Black Stars edged out the Super Eagles in a two-legged tie in March in the playoff round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

With this, the Nigerians will definitely be heading into this game with nothing but a winning mindset to stage a perfect revenge on their bitterest rivals.

The Black Galaxies however, have also missed out on the last three editions of the CHAN, despite finishing second in 2009 and 2014 and will play their hearts out this time to secure qualification to Algeria.

Coach Annor Walker’s men completed a 4-0 on aggregate victory over the Cheetah’s of Benin in the first round of qualifiers but unfortunately lost to Qatar in an international friendly tourney in Austria last week.

On the other hand, the Super Eagles B team touched down at the Kotoka International Airport this morning ahead of the epic tie coming up.

The Nigeria home-based national team started their preparations in Abuja before leaving for Ghana and have safely landed in Accra, looking really poised for the game, having had a walkover in the first round.

They immediately left to the city of Cape Coast with STC bus and trained at the match venue yesterday in order to acclimatize to the state of the pitch, the current weather condition and others.
