Use ‘Kewu Kiba’ Festival To Accelerate Rapid Development – Northern Regional Minister Urges Nawuri Youth

The Nawuri communities in the Northern and Oti Regions have celebrated their annual homecoming festival in Kpandai, their homeland, infusing the town with vibrant colours, rhythmic beats, joyous laughter rich and powerful culture.

The festival encompasses a diverse range of events, including a float walk, health screening, Nawuri beauty pageant, a football gala, Traditional proverbs competition, musical concert and all of which encapsulate the cultural heritage of Nawuri’s

Kpandai, Kitare, Kabonwule, Ketiejeli, Balai and Nkanchina all displayed their cultural dances.

Beyond its role as a platform for cultural expression, the Nawuri Homecoming aims to foster a sense of belonging, Cultural display, feed the gods of their land and camaraderie among residents.

Families and friends gathered to celebrate, share stories, and create lasting memories, reinforcing the close-knit bonds that define them us one people.

The event was anticipated and has rekindled the spirit of unity and paved the way for a vibrant and united future for Kpandai and all the Nawuri communities. Kewu Kiba serves as a testament to the community’s resilience, diversity, and the richness of its cultural heritage.

The homecoming (Kewu Kiba) festival is set to bring together Nawures of the Northern and Oti regions in the diaspora and to promote the rich culture, tourism, talents and potentials of the Nawuri people.

Speaking at a durbar at Kpandai in the Northern Region to climax this year’s ‘Kewukiba’ festival, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Saibu urged the Nawures to reflect on core traditional values and practices that bind them together for sustainable development.

“Let the future of your children be your major priority, stop buying expensive clothes for funerals and invest in their education”, he added.

The Minister described the Kewukiba festival as ”an iconic display of culture and unity of purpose which also stands as a pillar to the role of quality education in addressing national development challenges”.

He stated, “If there’s opportunity for me again, I’ll love to be a Nawuri. You are very unique and hardworking people”.

Mr Nyefene Vincent Ameasen, president of the Nawuri Professionals Association commended the government on the impact, progress, and transformation of Ghana’s education. He said Kpandai which is the traditional home for the Nawuri people has experienced massive development under the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration.

He said the Nawuri communities will continue to promote peace and unity and make sure Kpandai and it environs will be on the global map of peace, unity, and development.

Mr Nyefene Vincent Ameasen added, ” The festival is to serve as the springboard and a clarion call on all Nawuri citizens both home and diaspora to submit to meaningful re-engagement with their Communities and Families.”

He urged Nawures to live in peace and harmony with one another.

The festival, which was on the theme, “Empowering The Youth As Agents For Accelerated Development”, was graced by NANA ABUGA-ABA I ( NAWURI WURA), NANA BRISTIAN OKOREI ATORSAH II ( KPANDAI WURA), NANA OKUMANKUI I ( NKANCHINA WURA), NANA MATORGYIMILE KASTAH I (BALAI WURA), NANA AGYABASU I ( KATIEJELI WURA), NANA DENKERI I ( KITARE WURA), NANA ABUNYA-ABA I ( KABONWULE WURA), NANA NTAMELESU I ( NJIRE WURA), NANA OBRIMPONG FRIKO I ( DODOIA WURA), NANA AWUKU BONABU I ( AJENDE WURA), NANA AKONSI ABABIO II ( KITARE CHAACHUU WURA), NANA ANASENCHOR MOSES DAWURO ( BLADJAI ODIKURO), NANA AYENG ANEBU II (KPASS WURA), NANA ACHEKU KOFI CLETUS I, (AWURATU WURA), NANA ACHABATO ( CHINTIMAI WURA), NANA NCHOANE I

Other dignitaries are Nawuri Queen Mother (Nana Atowechula-aba), Katiejile Queen Mother (Nana Abun-abasu), Nkanchina Queen Mother (Nana Anu-abase), Kitare Queen Mother (Nana Awubamusu), Kpandai Queen Mother (Nana ACHIASA)

The Nawuri Professionals Association also invited other youth groups within the Kpandai District to join them celebrate this year’s Homecoming (Kewu Kiba) including the Basari, Kotokoles, Chorkosi, Moshei, Eve, Kabure ( Loso) And their brothers “The Nchunburus”
