Migration Of Nurses To Foreign Countries For Greener Pastures Is Worrying

The Administrator of Nyaniba Health College, Nii Saul Mettle has stated that the rate at which nurses migrate from Ghana to foreign countries for greener pastures due to the inability of government to employ them as well as poor conditions of service is disturbing.

 

Speaking in to Obaatanpa News Nana Yaw at the launch of this year’s SRC week of the school, the Administrator of the college, Nii Saul Mettle indicated that, they are aware as a private nursing training institution of the brain drain of how our nurses travel to foreign countries for greener pastures and it a great worry to them.

In respect to the above he appealed to all stakeholders, Ghana Health service and Government to speed up it policies in the health sector which include the completion of hospital facilities by the previous government as well the agenda 111 project to be able to employ more of nurses we have and the upcoming to occupy this facilities which will go a long way to deal with this canker.

He also highlighted that government should consider improving working conditions in to suit current financial pressure in Ghana.

 

On the other hand, the SRC president, Francis Asumin-Mensah speaking under theme, “A FRIENDLY NURSE, MANY LIVES SAVED” of this year’s SRC week celebration stated that it is about time we erase the notion that nurses are not friendly to the outside world especially some in discharging thier duties

He advised that one get close to a nurse in doing so ones health issue is known and dealt with it and in turn advised nurses to do away with using ones phone whiles a patient needs to be attended to.

He cease the opportunity to highlight some of the activities which will take place during the celebration.

 

Some of the SRC representatives express some concerns on the issue of nurses not treating patients well.
