A suicide note has emerged from the tragic incident involving a 38-year-old Headteacher, identified as Ernest Atta Kyei, who took his own life in Apaaso, a community in the Adwira Sekyeredumase Municipality, just days before his wedding.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred at around 9 pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in his room, where he was found hanging from a bar with his sponge. Traces of liquid believed to be poison were also discovered on the floor near the scene.
The suicide note left behind by Ernest Atta Kyei read, “I can no longer live on this earth any longer. Don’t blame anyone. Take care of my son for me, this is my father’s number.”
Before his untimely demise, Mr. Ernest Atta Kyei served as the headteacher of Apaaso Basic School in the Ashanti Region’s Adwira Sekyeredumase Municipality.
The reasons behind his decision to end his life just days before his wedding remain unclear. According to a colleague teacher who spoke with reporters, the Headteacher had mentioned having a problem a few days prior but did not disclose the details. He also mentioned that the GHC 7,000 he had set aside for his wedding expenses had gone missing.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue while the police have commenced further investigations into the matter. The community and school are left in shock and mourning over the tragic loss of their beloved Headteacher.
