In a dramatic turn of events, the Mehame Ekona Family of the Ahafo Region has taken the decisive step of destooling their family head, Opanin Collins Kwame Kusi, also known as Evangelist Onua Kusi.
The move comes amidst allegations of misappropriation of family resources and gross misconduct. The decision to destool Opanin Collins Kwame Kusi was not taken lightly.
Led by Obaapanin Nana Ama Akyiaa, the family members, including sisters, mothers, and nephews of the late Dr. Bright Acheamfour, gathered to perform a customary rite signifying the removal of Opanin Collins Kwame Kusi from his position as family head.
According to Obaapanin Ama Akyiaa, the destoolment was prompted by Opanin Kwame Kusi’s failure to be transparent with the family’s finances and his disrespectful behavior towards his own family.
Despite numerous invitations, Opanin Kwame Kusi allegedly refused to be held accountable for his actions, particularly following the final funeral rites of the late Dr. Bright Acheamfour.
Adding fuel to the fire, Adwoa Fordjuor, the sister of the late Dr. Acheamfuor, accused Opanin Kwame Kusi of colluding with the wife of the late Dr. Bright Acheamfour, Madam Sarah Acheamfour, to seize control of the family’s properties and businesses following the demise of their brother.
The decision to destool Opanin Collins Kwame Kusi was not made lightly, but it was deemed necessary to uphold the integrity and unity of the Mehame Ekona Family.
In a traditional procession through the Mehame township, the family members made it known to the citizens that Opanin Kwame Kusi was no longer their family head.
In light of these developments, the family has appointed Opanin Akwasi Dankwah as the new family head of the Ahafo Mehame Ekona family. It is hoped that under his leadership, transparency, accountability, and respect for family values will be restored.
The destoolment of Opanin Collins Kwame Kusi serves as a reminder that no one is above accountability, even in traditional family structures.
It also underscores the importance of upholding integrity and unity within families, especially during times of transition and adversity.
