Stop Causes Financial Loss To The State And Bring Out New Cocoa Price – Angry Cocoa Farmers Tells Gov’t

Almost all the Cocoa Farmers across the country are expressing worries about the Ghana government and its Cocoa Board for spending a lot of Ghana Cedis to celebrate *COCOA DAY* but not doing the necessary thing in the celebration.

According to the following Cocoa associations across the country, *Obaatampa Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union*, Dormaaman Cocoa Farmers Cooperative Union*, *Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA)* ,*Upper Dwira North Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union*, *WASSA Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union* and many other associations, that the government of Ghana and Ghana Cocoa Board have used full One Week celebrated *COCOA DAY* but couldn’t anounce new price for 2022/2023 Cocoa season.

Speaking with the media, they said, the government and Cocoa Board always use Cocoa day celebration to open the next Cocoa Season and anounce new price but this year the government want to cheat the farmers in the country that is why they refuse to do so.

They said, the government has privileged buying Argencis to exploit them by means of buying more Cocoa beans at the old price.

Farmers urging the government and Ghana COCOBOD to raise up the price of Cocoa from 660 to 1,500 cedis per bag in this harvest or they should forget our cocoa this season.

They therefore question the government and Ghana Cocoa Board the date that they will open the 2022_2023 cocoa season and bring out the new price.
