The Member of Parliament for Tamale South constituency and also the immediate past Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has denied posting any information on social media regarding the change in leadership announced by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said those social media handles do not belong to him.
“For the record, I wish to state that the said Facebook and Twitter Accounts do not belong to me and that I have never owned a Facebook or Twitter Account neither have I caused any such Account to be opened and operated in my name,” he wrote.
This was contained in a release dated January 23, 2023 in reaction to a post that read, “Never let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be. I will, and forever serve my country.”
“Indeed, I have never been on social media. I have never had or caused to be opened and operated in my name, any form of social media Account. The said Accounts purported to be in my name are therefore FAKE and so are the posts,” Mr. Iddrisu stressed.
The MP for Tamale South therefore urged the public to disregard any statements posted on the two platforms.
“I therefore entreat the general public, particularly the rank and file of our great NDC Party, to ignore the posts with the contempt they deserve. The creation of the Accounts and the posts therein are mere attempts by detractors to sow seeds of discontent within the hierarchy of the Party and to smear my person but they shall definitely FAIL. I have no doubt that the truth will always prevail,” he concluded.
