Profiles Of Schools Participating In 2022 NSMQ Grand Finale

Prempeh College, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon and Adisadel College are three schools that are not new to the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

Qualifying to the grande finale is nothing new to all of them.

Their contest on Wednesday, October 26, will be a battle of former champions seeking an additional trophy to establish their credentials in the history of the quiz.

The Wednesday showdown promises to deliver nerve-wracking competitive rounds in a revenge-or-repeat thrilling encounter full of surprises.

Ahead of the much-anticipated grand finale clash, below are the  profiles of the three schools so far as the NSMQ is concerned.

PRESEC LEGON

• NSMQ record holders (Most trophies)
• 6-time champions (1995, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2020)
• 11 appearances at the finals
• 1st Runner-up on four occasions
• Only school to win trophy back-to-back
• Reigning Greater Accra Regional Champions
• 3-time Regional Champions (2020, 2021 and 2022)

ADISADEL COLLEGE

• 1-time champions (2016)
• 6 appearances at the finals (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022)
• 1st Runner up (2015, 2020)
• 2nd Runner up (2017, 2018)
• Reigning Champions, Central Regional Championship
• Motto: Vel Primus Vel Primis (Either the first or with the first)

PREMPEH COLLEGE

•5-time champions (1994, 1996, 2015, 2017, 2021)
•Second most successful school at NSMQ
•Won maiden edition (1994)
•7 appearances at the finals
•1st Runner-up on one occasion (1997)
•Winners, Ashanti Regional Championship (2022)
•Motto: Suban ne Nimdeε (Character and Knowledge)

Will PRESEC raise their seventh trophy or will Prempeh equalise and pick a sixth trophy? What about ADISCO? Will they secure a second win after five years?
