The Black Meteors will face Mozambique in the 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations second round of qualification slated for next month.
Ghana will be battling it out with the Mozambique U23 team in the second round of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco qualifiers.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side was exempted from the first of a three-round qualifying series for the tournament to be staged in Morocco next year.
Mozambique U23 advanced to the second round of qualification after defeating Mauritius on a 5-1 aggregate after the two-legged fixtures.
The Black Meteors will travel to the East African nation for the first leg before hosting Mozambique in the reverse fixture at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Mozambique will host the Black Meteors on the weekend of October 21-23, 2022 in the first leg. The second leg tie scheduled to be played in Cape Coast will be honoured from October 28-30, 2022.
Ghana will be hoping to defeat Mozambique in the two legs of the qualification round to progress to the final round of qualification.
The fourteen teams qualified from the second round will play the third round (knockout from home and away matches) qualifying seven teams to the final tournament in addition to host Morocco.
The final tournament of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will serve as final qualifier round to the Men Olympic Football tournament.
The Black Meteors missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing fourth at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt – 2019.
Ghana have yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece
