Aboboyaa Rider Dies After Throwing Himself Into The River At Mankessim Over Hardship [Video]

A 40-year-old tricycle (Aboboyaa) rider who doubles as a scrap dealer has allegedly committed suicide by throwing himself into a river over hardship at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region.

A report gathered by Rainbow News Eric Annan has it that the deceased, Alhaji Osman, usually complains of hardship and has attempted to kill himself several times.

Some persons who witnessed the incident narrated that they saw the deceased taking off his dress at the flooded riverbank, and the next thing they saw was him flying himself into the river.

According to them, they thought he wanted to swim and would come out later, but they never saw him again.

Some local divers had to swim in search of the deceased for some hours, but to no avail.

After several hours spent on the river without finding him, the Chief and Elders of Edumadzi, a suburb of Mankessim where the incident occurred, had to come and pour libations to the river gods to bring the deceased out of the river, but all proved futile.

The body of the deceased was later found ashore on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
