Asanteman Youth Issue Ultimatum to Onua TV, Promise Swift Action Over Disrespect to Asantehene.

The Asanteman Youth for Cultural Development has today held a press conference to address recent acts of disrespect towards the Asante Kingdom and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The youth group expressed strong disapproval of what they perceive as targeted attacks on the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman.

Speaking at the event, the group’s leader, Enoch Osei Kwadwo Hyiamang, conveyed the frustrations of the Asante youth, emphasising that they would no longer tolerate disrespect from key individuals and groups, including chiefs, politicians, and media personalities.

According to Mr. Hyiamang, these attacks are not isolated incidents but are part of a well-orchestrated scheme.

“We, the youth of Asanteman, have had enough of the disrespect from chiefs, politicians, media personalities, and anyone else who dares to tarnish the dignity of Asantehene and our people. We are aware that these attacks are politically motivated,” Mr. Hyiamang stated.

He went further to allege that certain political forces are behind the recent criticisms, with the aim of tarnishing the reputation of the Asantehene and the Asante Kingdom.

“Our investigations reveal that these recent attacks on Asantehene and Asanteman are being sponsored by politicians who want to destroy the good name of Asante,” he added.

A key part of the press conference centred on a demand for a public apology from Media General, specifically targeting its subsidiary, Onua TV. According to Mr. Hyiamang, the channel had disrespected the Asantehene and his linguists during recent broadcasts.

“We have given Media General, specifically Onua TV, an ultimatum to render an apology to Otumfuo and his linguists. If they fail to do so, they will face our wrath,” he warned.

Additionally, the youth leader issued a stern warning to chiefs who, in their view, have been complicit in attempts to damage the image of the Asantehene.

“We are also cautioning other chiefs who have deliberately decided to damage the image of Asante to desist immediately, or they will face us, the youth, directly,” Mr. Hyiamang stressed.

The group expressed its firm resolve to defend the dignity and honour of the Asantehene, vowing that any future attempts to undermine the Asante Kingdom would be met with fierce opposition.
