Bawku conflict: One NPP Supporter Killed; Feuding Factions Warned Not To Involve Party In Chieftaincy Dispute

The Bawku Central branch of the New Patriotic Party has cautioned Mamprusis and Kusasis in Bawku not to involve the party in the ongoing chieftaincy conflict.

The leadership of the party in the Bawku Central Constituency made the pronouncement in a press release after news of the gruesome murder of one of the party’s staunch supporters was announced.

They have advised both ethnic groups to resort to the appropriate channels for redress.

The deceased, Mma Lale, was murdered by unknown gunmen at Tinsongo, a suburb of Bawku in the early morning of Monday, September 5, 2022.

According to the NPP in the constituency, the Mma was killed merely because of her affiliation with the NPP.

“The party leadership want to make it clear that, the party is not interested in the chieftaincy dispute between Mamprusis and Kusasis and will like to condemn all those who commit crimes in the name of conflict.

“We advise both Mamprusis and Kusasis to resort to the appropriate channels like the law courts or the House of chiefs to resolve their long standing dispute”.

“We call on our regional and national party to also condemn this act of killing our party members in the name of chieftaincy dispute,” the party had said in a press release.

BAWKU CENTRAL NPP CONDEMNS GRUESOME MURDER OF MMA LALE, A KNOWN BISSA NPP ACTIVIST

The NPP received the sad news of the GRUESOME murder of one of our very strong member, MMA LALE popularly know as NPP mother.

The leadership of the NPP in Bawku central condemn this act of cowardice by these gun men who have now resorted to attacking and killing our party supporters especially those who stay with in KUSASI communities.

Mma Lale who was murdered this morning around Tinsongo a kusasi settlement is a Bissa woman who has no hand in the chieftancy dispute in Bawku ,her only crime is the fact that, she is an NPP member.In 2008 her house was burnt down for the same reason that,she is an NPP member.

This is not the first time people within kusasi settlement are attacking NPP members. Recently members of the party were attacked around Gingande another kusasi area.

The party leadership want to make it clear that,the party is not interested in the chieftancy dispute between Mamprusis and Kusasis and will like to condemn all those who commit crimes in the name of the conflict.
