As part of activities to commemorate this year’s Mother’s Day celebration, the EKK Charity Foundation, a non-profit organization, embarked on a donation exercise across five major hospitals in Greater Kumasi to bring smiles to the faces of nursing mothers.
Led by the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Evans Kofi Kwafo, the team distributed over 120 hampers filled with essential items including soaps, detergents, antiseptic solutions, baby wash, and other newborn necessities to mothers who delivered on Mother’s Day.
The hospitals that benefited from this initiative included the KNUST Hospital, Kumasi South Hospital (Atonsu), Tafo Government Hospital, South Suntreso Hospital, and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The charitable act was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff for H.E John Dramani Mahama.
Although Hon. Debrah is not directly linked to the Foundation, he was moved to support the cause after learning about its impactful work through political communicator Appiah Stadium.
His support included a financial donation that enabled the Foundation to procure and distribute the hampers.
“Although I don’t know Hon. Julius Debrah personally, I’m overwhelmed and touched by his decision to support us. The surprise gift came at the right time and brought hope and joy to many mothers,” Dr. Evans Kofi Kwafo said.
Dr. Kwafo further expressed his gratitude, stating, “All I can say is that the happiness we saw on the faces of these mothers will be a blessing for Hon. Julius Debrah. We at EKK Charity Foundation believe in helping people, and what better day to do so than Mother’s Day?”
He also advised women never to give up on their babies, no matter their circumstances, as the future remains unknown. “Don’t abandon your babies regardless of your situation, because nobody knows what tomorrow holds,” he urged.
EKK Charity Foundation has consistently provided support to underprivileged individuals and institutions through scholarships, start-up capital, and other social interventions. The Mother’s Day event added another impactful chapter to its mission of uplifting communities across Ghana.
