The driver and his mate were fortunate to escape unharmed when their Benz container car, bearing the license plate “GR 5004 A,” veered off the Asene-Oda highway and struck a tree in Akyem Asene.
The incident happened today, Monday, July 22, 2024, around 1:00 p.m.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Ahenkan News, the driver was heading towards Akyem Oda from Agona Swedru to deliver drinks, and in an attempt to swerve a pothole at Akyem Asene opposite the South Birim Rural Bank, he got his car airborne and unfortunately somersaulted until they landed in the bush.
Luckily, none of them got severely injured, with the locals saying the incident would have been deadly if it had occurred in a crowd.
Government representatives in the Asene Manso Akroso district were urged by residents and eyewitnesses to seal the portholes because it led to an excessive number of accidents.
Ahenkan News speaking with the driver, Mr. Kwasi Joseph, confirmed that he broke his spring after hitting a porthole in front of the bank, which led him to slip into the tree because automobiles were confronting him.
“I hit a pothole, breaking his spring, lost control of my car, and an accident happened” He explained
