Two Ghanaian officials Daniel Laryea and Kwasi Brobbey will be on duty as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and an assistant referee respectively at the seventh edition of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be staged in Algeria next month.
The list was released on Wednesday by the Confederations of African Football (CAF) as all eighteen teams continue preparations for the biennial tournament.
While Kwasi Brobbey made the cut for the 19 final list of assistant referees, Daniel Laryea was also included in a list of 12 video assistant referees, out of the total 49 officials charged to regulate a total of 32 matches at the tournament. There are also 18 referees expected to be the main officials of the matches.
The experienced Daniel Laryea will be at another major competition after he was chosen for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Kwasi Brobbey has also been given the nod for his third major tournament having been named as part of the officials for the 2019 African games in Morocco and the 2021 Africa U-20 cup of nations in Mauritania.
The list also includes three females. Togolese referees Vicentia E. Amedome and Atezambong Zomo Carine and Diana Chikotesha of Zambia and Cameroon respectively will serve as assistant referees.
