Solomon Kusi Brako Confirmed As New MCE of Birim Central Municipal Assembly

Mr. Solomon Kusi Brako has been unanimously confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Birim Central Municipal Assembly (BCMA).

He was sworn in by Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the Eastern Regional Minister, after receiving twenty-five (25) YES votes out of the 27 total votes cast by assembly members, with two (2) NO votes—more than the two-thirds of the required sum.

Led by Hon. Rita Akosua, Mr Solomon Kusi Brako took the oath of office, the oath of allegiance, and the oath of secrecy while pledging to serve with all dignity and integrity.

Solomon Kusi Brako’s confirmation, unlike some other assemblies, was smooth as almost all the Assembly members, including government appointees, were cladded in the same attire during the voting process to guarantee a successful, calm, and orderly election.

The new MCE, in an interview with Journalists after his swearing-in, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for nominating him to the high office and the assembly members for overwhelmingly endorsing his appointment and promised to prove equal to the task.

He assured the Assembly of making sure that decisions taken at the Assembly would be progress-oriented.

He seized the opportunity to appeal to the assembly members and the core staff of the assembly to give him their maximum support and cooperation to ensure the success of her tenure of office.

Commenting on his overwhelming endorsement, Solomon Kusi Brako, who doubles as the Constituency Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress in Akim Oda, interpreted it to mean that he needs to listen more to the Assembly members.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who supervised the process and later sworn-in the newly confirmed MCE, expressed her gratitude to the Assembly members for making the exercise a smooth one.

She stressed that the endorsement would set the assembly’s activities on the right footing for rapid development.

He said the confirmation of Mr Solomon Kusi Brako would speed up the developmental agenda of the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, as the MCE would take full responsibility for the assembly’s activities enshrined in the Constitution.

According to her, some Assemblies in other jurisdictions could not confirm the President’s nominee, because of personal interests tied around the hope that they will eventually get nominated.
