The Examination officer for Kumasi Metro of education Mr Christian Agyiri has called on Parents teachers to guide children in choosing courses that will help them gain employable skills before they come out of school.
He advised students to also choose courses that will help them create employment for themselves when they complete school.
Mr Christian Agyiri made this appeal during Progressive Shalom International School graduation ceremony at Ohwim in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
According to him, an increasing number of students entering SHS are always opting grammar schools instead of Technical and Vocational schools which has growth in the labour market.
So Parents should guide the students to take courses which will gain them employment right after school than abandoning the candidates to choose courses based on the schools their friends are choosing.
Added that most of the universities are now doing entrepreneurial courses for students, saying that it helps the students gain employable skills to create their own jobs when they complete school, urging all to encourage this.
Evangelist Michael Adu Poku proprietor of
progressive Shalom International school pleaded the government to support private schools than overburden them with nuisance taxes.
He further implored the students to focus what they have been taught in school than relying on malpractice for the examination.
