The Perfect Series Basic Schools Education Assessment Competition was initiated to promote reading and thinking habits among Ghanaian students, equipping them with the skills needed to confront societal challenges confidently.
In an interview with the CEO of Perfect Series Publications and originator of the contest, Pastor Philip Sarpong, he expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the participating schools.
“From the preliminary stage to the finals, the level of performance has really amazed me. These students have outperformed their previous records, and that makes me very proud,” he said.
He also touched on the relevance of the current educational curriculum, particularly the component on critical thinking, and called on teachers to be more intentional in its delivery.
“Although the new curriculum includes critical thinking, I appeal to teachers to enforce and teach it well so it boosts students’ learning and thinking skills. That way, they can match up with students globally,” Pastor Sarpong added.
As part of the next phase of the competition, the top three schools from the Northern Sector, O.A Legacy International School, Unique Educational Complex, and Reverence Preparatory School will compete with three schools from the Southern Sector in the National Grand Finale scheduled for September 25, 2025.
The Southern Sector representatives include St. Theresa’s School from North Kaneshie, Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic A, and Sephilis Academy from Lartebiokorshie.
The national champions will walk away with GH₵20,000, a trophy, plaques, books, computers, and other educational materials.
