In a remarkable act of compassion, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), a prominent figure in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has paid the medical bills of four financially distressed patients at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
The gesture occurred during Chairman COKA’s visit to the hospital, where he was accompanying Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, as part of their outreach to engage with citizens.
During the visit, the four patients, unable to settle their hospital bills amounting to approximately GH¢6,000, approached Chairman COKA and shared their challenges. Touched by their plight, he immediately took action, settling the bills to enable the patients to leave the hospital and return home to their families.
Speaking after the kind gesture, Chairman COKA said: “I couldn’t bear to see them in such a difficult situation. We must always remember that as leaders, we are here to serve and support the people, especially those in dire need. It is my prayer that this small gesture brings them relief and restores their hope.”
The beneficiaries of Chairman COKA’s generosity could not hide their gratitude, expressing deep appreciation for his timely intervention. One of the patients remarked, “We are truly overwhelmed by this act of kindness. Chairman COKA has shown us that there are still leaders who care about the welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian. May God bless him abundantly.”
They also offered prayers for Chairman COKA and the NPP government, expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the upcoming 2024 general elections. According to them, such acts of compassion reflect the leadership’s commitment to the well-being of Ghanaians. “With such a good-hearted leadership, we are confident the NPP will emerge victorious in the 2024 elections,” another patient declared.
This gesture adds to the growing admiration for Chairman COKA, who is known for his charitable works and commitment to improving lives. His action has been widely commended as an example of leadership rooted in empathy and service.
Chairman COKA’s intervention has undoubtedly brought hope to the four patients and their families, leaving a lasting impression of the NPP’s resolve to address the concerns of the vulnerable in society.
