The historic ceremony was held on January 27, 2026, marking a major milestone in the Institute’s ongoing efforts to build robust systems of accountability, transparency, and good governance.
The members of the Audit Committee were officially sworn in by Mr. Hayford Dowuona-Hammond of the Internal Audit Agency. The Committee is composed of distinguished professionals drawn from key institutions.

At its maiden sitting, the Committee unanimously appointed Mr. Alhassan Fuseini as Chairman. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Fuseini expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged the Committee’s commitment to supporting management in ensuring audit compliance and strengthening internal controls.
He emphasised that the Committee would work collaboratively with management to uphold the highest standards of financial and operational accountability.
Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, Chief Executive Officer of NVI, reaffirmed management’s full cooperation with the Committee. He noted that the establishment of the Audit Committee reflects the Institute’s determination to develop functional structures that will position it to effectively deliver on its mandate.
The event was graced by Mr. Wilfred Addo, Director of Audit at the Ministry of Health, who served as the Special Guest. He assured the gathering of the Ministry’s continued support for initiatives aimed at advancing the broader mandate of the NVI.
Following its inauguration, the Audit Committee convened its first meeting to review the Institute’s 2025 fourth quarter internal audit report. The meeting was successfully conducted, and the Committee also developed its calendar for 2026, expressing readiness to meet all scheduled dates as agreed.
