NAPO Assures Teachers of Better Welfare Under Bawumia’s Leadership.

As Ghanaians prepare to head to the polls in a few days to elect a new President, campaign activities have reached their peak.

Among the groups being actively engaged by political candidates are teachers and other government workers, whose welfare remains a key concern in the election discourse.

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has been on a campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, interacting with various teacher groups.

Speaking during one of these engagements, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, a former Minister for Education, assured teachers of the NPP’s unwavering commitment to improving their welfare.

He emphasized that the welfare of teachers under the NPP government has been far superior to what was experienced under the previous administration.

Citing significant improvements in teachers’ salaries, he stated, “The teacher in Ghana currently starts on a salary three times what they received in 2016 when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in government.”

Dr. Opoku Prempeh attributed these gains to deliberate policies implemented by the NPP government to ensure that teachers are adequately rewarded for their indispensable role in nation-building.

He added that under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP will continue to prioritize teachers’ welfare.

“The incoming leadership of Dr. Bawumia remains resolute in its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Ghanaian teachers.

We deeply value the indispensable role they play in shaping the teaching and learning process, which is the backbone of our nation’s development,” he reiterated.

The interactions also saw teachers expressing their enthusiasm and support for the NPP. According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the energy and unity displayed by the teacher groups were remarkable.

“The energy and enthusiasm witnessed were truly inspiring. These teacher groups demonstrated a united resolve to consolidate the gains we have made together as a nation,” he noted.

He further expressed confidence that the teachers will show their support at the polls, stating, “Their determination is clear—they will vote for Dr. Bawumia and all NPP parliamentary candidates.”

As the election draws closer, the engagement with teachers by the NPP highlights the importance of education in Ghana’s development agenda, with promises of better conditions of service taking centre stage.
