Black Stars midfielder, Kudus Mohammed dedicated his well-taken free kick goal against Sparta Rotterdam to ex- Ghanaian international Christian Atsu who passed on last Saturday.
The Jews recorded this vital win to keep the chase on current Eredivise leaders Feyenoord, with the other three goals recorded from Dusan Tadic’s brace and another from Kenneth Taylor.
Atsu was a victim of the thousands of lives lost in Turkey after a tragic earthquake incident earlier this month.
He was been found dead under the rubble of his home almost two weeks after the Turkey earthquake, his agent has confirmed on Saturday morning via twitter.
The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger died at age 31 after his lifeless body was pulled out of the rubble by the Turkish rescue team after a fourteen days of tortuous search.
Kudus, after dedicating the goal was supposed to be booked after pulling off his shirt but was pardoned by referee Pol van Boekel.
The mercurial playmaker after the game explained that, the referee didn’t show him the yellow card because he understands the situation and that’s beyond football.
That has got him so impressed and added the center-man has earned a huge respect from him.
“We have football rules but this is beyond football, this is about life and death. The referee told me it’s not allowed (shirt removal) but he understands because this is a bigger situation than football. A big respect from me to the referee.”
The remains of Christian Atsu is expected to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday evening for a befitting state burial.
