“Include Financial Literacy in School Curriculum to Prepare Youth for Digital Economy” – Up Africa Movement To Government.

The Director of Up Africa Movement, Mr David Megga, has called on the Government of Ghana to urgently incorporate financial management and literacy into the school curriculum.

According to him, equipping students with financial knowledge will enable them to manage their finances effectively, especially as the world economy continues to transition into the digital space.

Speaking at a workshop organised by Up Africa Movement at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi, Mr Megga emphasised the importance of financial education for young people.

“In this digital age, financial literacy is a necessity, not a choice. The government must make it a priority by introducing financial management courses in our schools. This will prepare the youth to handle their finances and take advantage of digital economic opportunities,” he stated.

Up Africa Movement is an organisation committed to training individuals in online business and wealth creation without the need for physical structures.

Mr Megga highlighted that poverty remains a significant challenge in Ghana and Africa at large, and online marketing presents an opportunity to reduce it. He urged young people to leverage the digital economy for financial growth.

“For years, poverty has been one of Africa’s biggest problems. Our vision at Up Africa Movement is to help young people become financially independent. They must take advantage of online trading and marketing to build wealth and drive away poverty,” he added.

The workshop, which targeted youth within the Kumasi Metropolis, aimed to educate participants on legitimate online trading platforms and raise awareness about digital financial scams. Mr Megga stressed the importance of distinguishing between genuine digital opportunities and fraudulent schemes.

Encouraging young people to take action, he stated, “The digital economy is growing rapidly, and there are numerous opportunities available. Young people must seize this chance now and utilise platforms like Up Africa Movement to establish themselves financially.”

Up Africa Movement continues to provide training and support to individuals interested in digital entrepreneurship. The organisation believes that widespread financial literacy and digital skills will contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction in Ghana.
