I Was A Womanizer – AFCON Winner Rev Osei Kofi

Ghana football icon, Rev. Osei Kofi has opened up about his past, revealing that his talent on the field led him into a life of womanizing before he embraced Christianity and became a pastor.

The two-time AFCON winner from 1963 and 1965 reminisced about his era where players had more freedom.

Rev. Osei Kofi admitted that, his football prowess attracted many women, who would visit him even without his seeking them out.

However, a transformative encounter with Christ changed his life’s direction. Now a devoted pastor, Rev. Osei emphasized that his faith has guided him away from his previous lifestyle.

“The Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I am a Christian, and through football, I became a pastor. So, it is the fear of God that is in me, because there were many things I was doing while playing football, but I have stopped. It’s not just Christianity, but it’s the reason I am still strong at age 84,” the Asante Kotoko legend told Joy News.

“In those days, we were not professionals but amateurs, so, as for women, I had many at that time. It was my talent that got me the women. If I didn’t go out, they would come. I am telling you the truth,” he added.

Rev. Osei Kofi remains a celebrated figure in Ghanaian football history, having also been the joint top scorer in the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament that saw Ghana emerge victorious for the second time.
