The Ghana National Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) has expressed deep concern and relief following the road accident involving the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and other government officials, including the Deputy Minister for Communication and Digital Technology.

In a statement, GNUTS acknowledged the unwavering dedication of the ministers to national service and described the incident as unfortunate, noting that the officials were on official duty at the time of the accident.
According to the union, the Minister’s intentions were geared towards advancing education in the Upper West Region, as he was travelling to attend the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the incident occurred.

GNUTS commended the Ghana National Ambulance Service for its swift response and professionalism in handling the emergency situation, which they said contributed significantly to ensuring the safety and well-being of those involved.

The union has called on Ghanaian students across the country to remember the Honourable Ministers of State and other officials involved in the accident in their prayers, expressing hope for their speedy recovery and swift return to active service.

Furthermore, GNUTS used the opportunity to urge the Ministry Of Roads And Highways to prioritise the asphaltic surfacing and proper construction of all inter-regional roads. The union emphasised that improving road infrastructure is critical to preventing similar incidents in the future.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Honourable Ministers and their families during this difficult time. We remain hopeful for their full recovery so they can continue their dedicated service to our beloved nation, Ghana,” the statement concluded.
