Almost all the Cocoa Farmers across the country are boldly expressing their worries Ghana government and its COCOBOD new cocoa price for 2022/2023 cocoa season.
According to the following Cocoa associations across the country, Obaatampa Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union, Dormaaman Cocoa Farmers Cooperative Union, Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA), Upper Dwira North Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union, WASSA Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union and many other associations, the government of Ghana and Ghana Cocoa Board should expect smaller volumes of cocoa in this year’s harvest for the 800 GH per bag price announced for the 2022/2023 Cocoa season.
Speaking with newsmen, they said, the government and Cocoa Board should expect farmers to cut down their cocoa trees for Galamsey activities, rubber and palm plantations because the new price is not motivating.
They said, currently Cocoa Price in Lvory Coast is 900 CFA which is 1,390 GH so the government and it’s Cocoa Board should not rely on cocoa for this season.
They are therefore urging the government and Ghana COCOBOD to bring out a new price. They demand 1,500 GH or turn theirback to government.
