Fake Police Officer Busted At Awutu Breku

A 28-year-old man, Isaac Osei, has been arrested by the Awutu Breku Police MTTD Command for posing as a police officer.

The suspect, Isaac Osei, was arrested when he was stopped during a routine vehicle inspection on the Awutu Breku road.

Atinka News’ Central Regional Correspondent, Samuel Nyamekye, reported that Isaac Osei, who was using a Toyota Corolla with registration number, GE 3013-12, was driving without a license and a roadworthy certificate.

According to Samuel Nyamekye, the suspect who was wearing a Police uniform questioned the Awutu Breku MTTD officers for stopping a colleague officer.

“When Isaac Osei was stopped by the police, he identified himself as Laryea and said he was a police officer assigned to Accra. But the police later learned that his name was Osei after further questioning. He also had identification cards on him that proved his name was Osei”. Samuel Nyamekye narrated how the police questioned him about the police department and he refused to respond.

The suspect is currently at the Awutu Breku Police MTTD command assisting in investigations.

This brings the total number of people impersonating the security services in December 2022 to two.

 

On 7th December 2022, The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has handed to the Police CID one Rufai Abubakar, who posed as a Military officer at Burma Camp.

The Military Police personnel of the GAF arrested Rufai Abubakar while trying to access a military installation inside Burma Camp.

A statement by the GAF says the suspect who was dressed in a military camouflage uniform, decorated with fake Lieutenant Colonel ranks, claimed he was stationed at Northern Command Headquarters when questioned.

He added that he was proceeding to the Air Force Base to book a flight to Tamale.

Rufai Abubakar who entered Burma Camp in a commercial vehicle was closely monitored as he alighted at a bus stop and headed to the Air Force Base.

The guards on duty noted his suspicious behaviour, questioned him and after some incoherent answers, he confessed he was not a service personnel.

“He also disclosed that he posed as a Senior Military Officer to enable him to defraud one Mr Abdallah Abdul Fatahu from whom he had collected an amount of Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢3,000.00) under the pretext of recruiting him into the Ghana Armed Forces,” excerpts of the GAF statement read.
