The second day of the Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest was marked by excitement and determination as DA-Awaatul Islamic School and Lartebiokorshie 2 Primary and KG, both from the Ablekuma Central Municipal in the Greater Accra Region, showcased their academic prowess on February 18, 2025.
Learners from both schools demonstrated impressive enthusiasm and knowledge, making their presence felt in the competition.
Speaking after the audition, Mr. Yissif Adams, Headmaster of DA-Awaatul Islamic School, expressed his excitement about their participation, noting that it was their first major external competition.
“It’s a pleasure to be part of this competition because it gives our learners exposure. If we excel, it will bring great encouragement and recognition to the school,” he stated.
Teachers at DA-Awaatul Islamic School highlighted the importance of such contests, saying they help build students’ confidence and academic skills. The learners themselves were equally motivated, expressing optimism about answering all questions correctly.
At Lartebiokorshie 2 Primary and KG, Headmistress Adwoa Owusu Kwaakye emphasized the significance of the competition in helping students overcome shyness and develop self-assurance.
“Some of our students are very shy, but this contest provides a great opportunity for them to break out of their shells and build confidence,” she said.
Despite financial challenges, she remained hopeful about their performance. “We are determined to perform well. If we don’t come first, we certainly won’t be last,” she assured.
Teachers at Lartebiokorshie 2 echoed similar sentiments, stressing that the contest teaches students that assessments go beyond classroom exams.
“Despite our challenges, we are here to change the narrative and make a positive impact on our school and community,” they affirmed.
The learners, in turn, were eager to make their school proud and advance to the national level.
Meanwhile, Madam Eva Worname, the Guidance and Counselling Coordinator for the Ablekuma Central Municipal Directorate, visited the audition and commended the initiative.
“This competition is not just about books—it broadens knowledge, encourages learning, and the prizes awarded in the finals were real and impactful,” she noted.
With the growing enthusiasm from both students and educators, the Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest continues to serve as a platform for academic excellence and personal growth.
