The former New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim and Member of Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), Hon James Appeitu Ankrah says Ken Ofori-Atta’s continuous stay in office as Ghana’s Finance Minister is delaying the IMF bailout the country is seeking.
Hon James Appeitu Ankrah said Mr. Ofori-Atta does not have credibility before the Bretton Woods Institution.
According to him, the embattled Minister cannot lead the country into such valuable negotiations.
He added that it was Ken Ofori Atta who said on several platforms that Ghana will never re-tune to IMF under this NPP’s administration and just few months, he has taken the country to them which shows that he is not competent.
He also supported the NPP MPs decision of calling on president Akufo-Addo to sack the Finance Minister, Hon Ken Ofori Atta and his Adu Boahen from the office.
Hon James Appeitu Ankrah said that the president Akufo-Addo has only two options of either sacking the finance minister or resigning as president.
He noted that, because a President cannot run the country without parliament’s intervention in government businesses, President Akufo-Addo should listen to the MPs.
He made this revelation in an interview with Obuoba Ofori Amanfo on “Maakye morning show” on Akyem Aboabo based Ahenkan FM.
