Criticism Over Old Tweets Not Affecting Business; Getting Threats Rather – KiDi

Lynx Entertainment star Dennis ‘KiDi’ Nana Dwamena has said the recent backlash over tweets he sent out where he appeared to denigrate national leaders and celebrities has not affected his music business.

Today, Monday, 3 October 2022, KiDi was a guest on Accra-based Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz programme.

Responding to whether the avalanche of criticism on social media over alleged abusive tweets he sent out as far back 2012 has affected his music business, the serial hitmaker reflected: “Not that I know of.”

After repeating that under his breath, he added, “I mean, I would have wanted all that attention to go to my EP, that’s what I would have wanted but at a point when it was happening, I had this weird state of mind. I was like, ‘Wow! All these people are coming out, coming at me, and where were all these people when I released the EP?’”

On if the backlash has truncated streaming of his music, he offered this response: “Not really. I mean, these things will only be known with time but now, I mean, work still goes on.”

The Ghanaian international music act who was on a European tour when on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, some Twitter users started uncovering and spreading said old tweets, remarked, “I couldn’t even afford to take a step back to reboot and recalibrate, because there is work to be done, so no matter what you’re going through, you have to be up in the morning, and ready to go.”

Also, during the interview with Andy Dosty, Mr Dwamena revealed in view of the September 28, Twitter incident, he has been receiving threats.

“It’s been what 4 or 5 days now, I still get threats,” he said.

“My whole family is catching the bullets. Everybody who even has nothing to do with the situation is catching heat,” he went on without specifying what threats he was receiving.

Currently, KiDi is out with his second extended play (EP) called ‘4Play’.
