FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Businesswoman Niharika Handa Demands Retraction of False and Defamatory Publication

Legal Action Initiated Against Ghana Chronicles, Asaase Radio And Others For Defamation And Unsubstantiated Allegations

Accra, Ghana – 13th September 2025

Prominent businesswoman Ms. Niharika Handa has instructed legal counsel to pursue legal action against media outlets following the publication of false and malicious allegations about her business activities and personal affairs.

The articles, published on September 10, 2025, contain multiple false statements designed to damage Ms. Handa’s reputation and business interests. Ms. Handa and her son also have serious concerns about their personal security following the publication of their passport details and personal information online, which creates risks of identity theft and compromises their safety.

Contrary to the false narrative presented, Ms. Handa is the complainant, not the accused, in ongoing legal matters. She has filed criminal and civil charges against Mr. Amar Deep Singh Hari for allegedly stealing precious minerals and other valuable properties from Gold Crest Refinery Limited, while also pursuing civil recovery of the stolen assets.

The current legal cases include:

* Republic v Amar Deep Singh Hari & Another (Criminal proceedings)

* Niharika Handa v Amar Deep Singh Hari & Others (Civil proceedings)

Through her legal counsel, Ms. Handa has issued formal legal demands that the media outlets:

1. Retract the defamatory publication immediately

2. Remove the content from all platforms

3. Issue an unqualified public apology

Legal demand letters have been served on Ghana Chronicles, Asaase Radio, News Ghana, and The Herald, with a 24-hour deadline for compliance.

Ms. Handa’s legal team has made clear that failure to meet these demands will result in immediate legal proceedings against all media institutions that published or republished the false information.

Ms. Handa states unequivocally that she has no pending legal cases in any jurisdiction as alleged.

“Ms. Handa remains focused on pursuing justice through the proper legal channels,” said a spokesperson. “These false allegations appear timed to distract from the serious criminal and civil proceedings where she seeks accountability for alleged theft and misconduct.” Ms. Handa emphasises that her primary concern is ensuring that those accused of criminal conduct face appropriate legal consequences, rather than engaging in public relations battles designed to deflect attention from the substantive legal matters at hand.

Warning to Media and Social Media Users

The legal team has issued a formal warning that anyone sharing, republishing, or distributing the defamatory content may face legal consequences for participating in the defamation of Ms. Handa’s character and business reputation.

All media outlets and individuals are advised to verify information through official sources before publication or sharing.
