The Ashanti Region is witnessing a resurgence of its vibrant theatrical heritage as Liezer-Legacy Productions, in collaboration with the Kumawood Ashanti Film Association (KAFA), presents the second edition of the Ashanti Dramalogue featuring “Akwaaba vs Oobakɛ”, scheduled for Sunday, October 26, at the CCB Auditorium, KNUST.

The event follows the successful staging of _Judas vs Jesus_ earlier this year (April 20), which reignited interest in live theatre in Kumasi.

“Akwaaba vs Oobakɛ” promises bold storytelling, wit, and cultural pride characteristic of the acclaimed _Kejetia vs Makola_ series. This performance isn’t merely entertainment; it’s a strategic step toward rebuilding the region’s creative industry infrastructure.

Proceeds from “Akwaaba vs Oobakɛ” will fund a permanent office complex for KAFA, aiming to unite actors, directors, writers, and other creatives under one coordinated body. Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene championed KAFA’s formation to galvanize the region’s film and theatre sector.

A delegation including Judge Louis Lamis, Akabenezer, Nana Gyasi Owusu, and Emmanuel Opoku Anane (Regional Minister’s PA) met key Kumasi stakeholders; The Mayor of Kumasi, Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman,Businessman Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and President John Dramani Mahama.

These meetings underscore collaborative efforts to bolster arts support, distinct from political motivations.

Kumawood once defined Ghanaian entertainment, shaping culture, language, and identity. “Akwaaba vs Oobakɛ” reflects aspirations to reclaim that prominence. Dr. Amoakohene’s initiatives highlight structured growth for Ashanti’s creative arts.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, 26th October 2025 at the CCB Auditorium, KNUST at 4:00 PM & 8:00 PM.

Tickets go for GH₵50 (Regular), GH₵100 (VIP), GH₵500 (VVIP).
