The Queen mother of Kenyasi No. 1 in the Ahafo region, Nana Adutwumwaa Morasa, has commended New Mount Company Ltd for commencing construction of Kenyase-Hwediem road which has been left deplorable for some time affecting lives in the community.
The Mining Company flopped the idea of restoring the broken road regardless of their corporate responsibility and the issue raised eyebrows among the youth through peaceful protest.
Through media report in January and consistent follow ups, Newmount Company has started the construction of the 8.2-kilo meters’ community road. The road when completed will connect Hwediem and Kenyasi communities to ensure the free movement of people, goods and services in the various communities.
Speaking to the Queen mother of Ahafo Keyase No.1, she made known that residents of Kenyasi had long suffered bad road condition and the Newmount Company deserves praise for undertaking the initiative to begin building the kenyase Road.
She further warned government to desist taking credit on the road contract because government has no clue about the intervention before assuring that follow-ups will be key to make sure the project is effectively prepared.
Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Youth Member of Ahafo Kenyasi No.1 who played a key role and was threatening for demonstration thanked the Mining Company for satisfying the requests of the people and urged that every positive impact must be within the community.
Some residents who expressed gratitude to Newmount Company for the road project, they said the realization of pave road means that Newmount has brought development to the communities.
