Ghana Police Service (GPS) has lauded ABKOJ Company Limited for constructing a standard parade ground priced Gh.470,000.00 for the Ahafo Regional Police Training School at Kenyasi No1 to help improve the training of recruits.
The Company which belongs to the Chief of Ahafo Kenyasi No1, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, received an appeal from the Ahafo Police Administration for help.
Speaking on behalf of Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the commissioning ceremony attended by Chiefs, Police Officers, Newmont and ABKOJ Staffs, DCE, Assembly Members, Clergy among others, the Ahafo Regional Deputy Police Commander, DCOP Felix Kwasi Cosmos explained how beneficial the parade ground will serve the school.
“The recruits were unable to get the best of training in terms of matching due to the absence of parade ground which of essence in police training.
“The entire Police Administration in the region are very pleased and thankful to ABKOJ Company for spending millions of Cedis in gifting us this edifice.
“In fact, we are really grateful and we hope that other Companies in the region will follow suit since the school lacks a lot of things,” He said.
According to DCOP Felix Kwasi Cosmos, instructors and recruits will no more endure any stress because of the availability parade ground.
He indicated, “the availability of this standard parade ground at the training school will help instructors give the best of training to recruits.”
The General Manager of ABKOJ Company which constructed the parade ground for the school, Mr. Samuel Aboagye highlighted what pushed the company to provide such facility.
“We received an appeal from the Police Administration and upon deliberations decided to add our quota which is our cooperate social responsibility by building this edifice for them.
“The company pumped in over Gh 400,000.00 into this project and it’s the best in terms of quality, he said.
Mr. Aboagye when asked about any future donation to the school from his Company, as he made an appeal for other company’s to support the school.
He added, “The company is always there for society, so anything within our means that we’ll do to support the community, we are available.
“I’m appealing to other company’s in the region to support the school as we have started because government alone cannot do everything.”
