AGOGO: INTER-PARTY DIALOGUE COMMITTEE FOR ASANTE AKYIM NORTH CONSTITUENCY INAUGURATED BY THE NCCE

The Asante Akyim North Municipal directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education inaugurated a nine-member Inter-Party Dialogue Committee ahead of December 7 general election.

The committee seeks to ensuring collaboration among political parties, stakeholders and citizens to address electoral issues in the constituency.

The event was attended by representatives of political parties and Independent Parliamentary candidate, religious leaders and persons with disabilities.

Mr. Seth Obeng, municipal NCCE director speaking at the inaugural ceremony touched on some concerns which affects elections and in politics i.e., monitisation, misinformation and disinformation, religious tolerance and electoral voilence which needs to be dealt with.

Chairman of the committee, Nana Kwabena Owusu who also represented Agogo Traditional Council, on behalf of the members expressed gratitude to the NCCE for reposing confidence in them to foster peaceful in Asante Akyim North constituency.

He advised the Electoral Commission to exhibit fairness and transparency in the electoral process, and also urged politicians to desist from engaging ‘macho men’ during elections.

Francis Ohene Komfa, municipal EC director expressed concerns about misinformation by some people which some times affects thier operations.

He also admonished that, citizens should be guided of their conducts in propagating or disseminating information on social media.

The voter register exhibit ion has ended but, electorates can still use the short code of **711**51# to check their names and polling centres respectively – he added.
