Teachers and Old Students Associations (OSA) in the country have been entreated to collaborate to instil discipline and good morals in students of their respective alma – maters.
Mr Samuel Amankwaa, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Acherensua Senior High School (ACHISCO), who stated this on Thursday at Acherensua, in the Ahafo region, said discipline and good morals yielded positive results.
He delivered his welcome address at the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the school on the theme, ” provision of quality education through discipline and hard work in the midst of COVID – 19″.
ACHISCO was founded by Former President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah in 1961, as a form of appreciation to Nananom and members of the Convention People’ Party (CPP) in Acherensua, for their loyalty to the party.
The Chairman stressed that academic excellence as well as improved productivity could not be achieved without self control and good moral upbringing of learners adding that all stakeholders must join hands.
Mr Amankwaa, who doubles as the President of ACHISCO OSA worldwide, indicated that the school since its establishment, has inculcated into students high moral and academic standards, to face challenges in society.
He noted that it was the mission of the school to produce young boys and girls to pursue further education at the tertiary levels in all fields, to help meet the manpower needs of the nation.
The Chairman disclosed that “the GCB Bank as part of its Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), released funds to ACHISCO through the current Board Chairman, to purchase metallic chairs to furnish our assembly hall”.
Mr Amankwaa pledged that the current Board members would not relent on their efforts to ensure that the school becomes one of the first class Senior High Schools (SHS) in the country.
He expressed gratitude to Mr Albert Kan – Dapaah, the Minister for National Security (an old student), for his immeasurable contributions to the greatness of the school adding that ACHISCO is forever indebted to him
” within a period of three months in the year 2020, Mr Kan – Dapaah donated a brand new pick – up vehicle, a modern projector, 72 – inch television set among other valuable kind gestures to our school” the Chairman emphasised.
Mr Amankwaa implored all OSA members globally, the Parents – Teacher Association (PTA),cooperate institutions among other stakeholders to donate to the infrastructure development of ACHISCO.
