The Member of Parliament for the Akrofrom Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has fulfilled a major educational promise by investing GHC 250,000 from his GETFund allocation to support the District Education Office and brilliant students within the constituency.

The intervention, he explained, is aimed at strengthening supervision, improving academic performance, and reducing poverty through quality education.
As part of the initiative, the MP provided five brand new motorcycles to Circuit Supervisors to enhance their mobility, three new laptops to Unit Heads to aid administrative work, and scholarships for 20 brilliant students transitioning into Senior High School.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Azumah stressed the importance of equipping educational authorities to enable them to deliver effectively.

“You cannot blame those in charge of education in the constituency when you haven’t provided them with the necessary resources to help their work,” he stated.

He added that with these new provisions, he expects significant improvement in supervision and learning outcomes. “To whom much is given, much is expected,”the MP emphasised.
Hon. Azumah further highlighted that this gesture is only part of a broader educational agenda he is pursuing.

He revealed that he has already procured school uniforms for over 500 students, bought a standby generator which will soon be delivered to the District Education Directorate, and has plans underway to construct a new District Education Office.
According to him, investing in education remains his biggest priority because “education is the best investment one can make for his constituents as it’s the only thing that can drive poverty out.”

The Deputy Director of Education for Akrofrom District, in charge of Monitoring and Supervision, Mr. Charles Clifford Baah, commended the MP for honouring his pledges. He expressed optimism about the impact of the support.

“The education supervision and records keeping will now be improved in the area,” he said, noting that the logistics will help the department deliver more efficiently.

The MP’s commitment, stakeholders believe, marks a significant step toward strengthening the educational foundation of the Akrofrom Constituency and ensuring that students have the opportunity to thrive academically.
