The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly has launched a stringent crackdown on poor sanitation practices, with 15 individuals currently facing prosecution for indiscriminate refuse disposal.

District Chief Executive, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, disclosed that the offenders have been arraigned before court as part of decisive measures to enforce sanitation by-laws within the district.
She made this revelation after a massive clean-up exercise at Kodie, where she underscored the critical importance of environmental cleanliness and responsible waste management.

“We are doing everything within our mandate to keep the municipality clean and habitable. However, we need the collective support of residents to sustain this effort,” she stated.
Hon. Ankrah issued a stern warning particularly to commercial drivers, especially trotro operators, who habitually dump refuse at Aduman Junction.
“If you are apprehended flouting the sanitation regulations, the full rigours of the law will be applied,” she cautioned.

The clean-up exercise, which witnessed active participation from residents and Assembly staff, forms part of a broader initiative to foster community involvement and promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
Hon. Ankrah further commended the people of Kodie for their overwhelming support and urged other communities within the district to emulate their exemplary commitment to sanitation.
