A/R: “140,000 persons targeted to be vaccinated from 25th to 29th May,” – Health Directorate.

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service with the funding support from JHPIEGO-USAID RISE has begun another round of COVID -19 vaccination exercise in all the Districts, Municipalities and it’s Metropolis in the region.

The five-days exercise which has started today 25th to 29th May 2023, would seek to vaccinate people who have not been vaccinated or yet to complete their second jabs and the booster.

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, the Regional Health Director in a short briefing, said persons who are 15 years and above including pregnant women are eligible to take the jab.

Dr. Tenkorang added that, vaccinating the population against this viral disease to achieve herd immunity is will continue to be the goal of the directorate.

He disclosed that, the exercise form part of the 2023 Covid-19 campaign and encouraged the media to support the directorate to create an awareness at all levels for a successful exercise.

Dr. Tenkorang then encouraged the people in the region who are yet to be vaccinated and those who has taken only one jab to participate in the ongoing exercise.
