Ban On Drumming And Noise-Making In Akyem Oda Commences Tuesday

The Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area in the Eastern Region has imposed a ban on drumming and noise-making as part of customs to usher in Adae Festival.

The two weeks ban which took effect on Tuesday, 20th December, 2022 evening at 6pm and  will end 4th January,2023.

 

According to a statement signed by Oberempong Gyamfi Sarfo Kyere II, Krotihene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, “during the period of the ban, the usual form of worship should be confined to the premises of the church and the mosque. Churches and Mosques are expected to refrain from using loud musical instruments or organizing events that are likely to bring about noise making.”

The statement adds that funeral rites and their related activities were also banned during the period.

Residents and all other organizations and companies are expected to respect tradition and obey accordingly.

According to the release, persons who flout the ban will be fined by the traditional council.
