In a historic and unprecedented development, the Government of Ghana, acting through the Juaben Municipal Assembly, has commenced a major educational infrastructure intervention in the Onaa and Amangoase communities within the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region, communities which, until now, have never benefited from government-established public schools.

The intervention involves the construction of a two-unit Kindergarten (KG) block at Onaa and a six-unit classroom block at Amangoase, a move widely described as a transformative step toward eliminating long-standing educational disparities in the area.

Speaking on the significance of the projects, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben, Hon. Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, underscored that the initiative is firmly anchored in the government’s broader policy objective of decentralizing access to quality education and ensuring that no child is disadvantaged due to geographical location.

According to the MCE, the absence of public schools in the two communities over the years compelled school-going children to commute long distances under difficult conditions, a situation that negatively affected enrollment, attendance, and academic performance.

She emphasized that the newly awarded projects represent a deliberate government effort to reverse this trend and promote inclusive educational development.

Hon. Eunice  Ohenewaa Ansu disclosed that the projects are expected to be completed within a six-month timeframe, subject to strict adherence to approved designs and quality standards. She further appealed to residents and traditional authorities in the beneficiary communities to fully cooperate with the contractor to ensure the smooth execution of the works.

The contracts for both projects have been awarded to Amoh Poku Bright of Red-Orange Limited, a construction firm tasked with delivering the projects to specification and within schedule. The contractor has assured the Municipal Assembly of his firm’s commitment to excellence, durability, and timely completion.

The MCE reiterated that the projects form part of a comprehensive government strategy to expand educational infrastructure to underserved and rural communities, strengthen foundational learning, and lay a solid academic base for future generations.

Residents of Onaa and Amangoase have welcomed the development with enthusiasm, describing it as a long-awaited breakthrough that will significantly improve access to basic education and enhance the socio-economic prospects of the communities.
